WHAT IS SCULPTRA™?
Sculptra™ is a volumising agent that reduces facial lines and wrinkles and helps to restore the fullness of your face by stimulating your own facial collagen production to replenish your skin and provide natural looking results. Once your treatment is complete, the results can last for more than 3 years.

WHAT IS SCULPTRA™ USED FOR?
Lifting the cheeks, mouth and jowel areas, as well as individual lines.

HOW DOES IT WORK?
Sculptra works in the lower layers of the skin in order to smooth and firm the treated areas of the face. Sculptra is a unique substance which is gradually and naturally broken down by the body. Sculptra is immunology inert, so that no allergy tests are necessary before beginning with treatment.

HOW LONG WILL THE EFFECTS LAST?
2 - 3 years depending on the number of treatments and what for.

DOES IT INVOLVE INJECTIONS?
Yes, but they are not painful. Anaesthetic creams and injections numb the area to be treated and most people only experience mild discomfort. Applying an ice pack after the treatment will help calm the area.

WHO PERFORMS TREATMENT WITH SCULPTRA™?
Sculptra™ injectable treatments are performed by qualified Deborah Forsythe Clinic Practitioners who have been trained to use the correct procedures for Sculptra™.

DOES THE TREATMENT HURT?
As with all injections, some discomfort is inevitable, and you may feel a brief burning sensation at the injection site. An ice pack applied after the treatment can help to relieve this.

WHAT HAPPENS AFTER THE TREATMENT?
Massage the treated areas of your face for five minutes at a time, five times a day for the first five days after treatment. Inform your healthcare professional if any side effects occur, such as inflammation or small bumps in the treated area.

WHAT ARE THE SIDE-EFFECTS?
The most common side-effects with the use of Sculptra are mild tenderness and swelling after the injections. This generally settles overnight. You may occasionally get a small bruise. This will settle over the next 2 - 3 days.

HOW SOON WILL I SEE THE RESULTS?
Sculptra™ takes time to work, with the results becoming noticeable after about 4-6 weeks. It may appear to have an effect immediately after your first treatment visit, but this is because of swelling from the injections and the water used to dilute Sculptra™. When the swelling goes down after a few days and the water is absorbed by your body, you may look as you did before treatment.

Two or three treatments are usually necessary to obtain the desired result. However, unlike some other treatments that require refresher sessions, the results can last for more than three years after the end of your Sculptra™ programme.*
